Scientists from the Vienna University of Technology in Austria plan to build nanostructures that contain living cells inside. Researchers say these "cages" would be created by first suspending the living cells in a water-based solution. Then they plan to add molecules that react with light by forming a polymer. When guided by a laser, these molecules would form a solid structure. The caged cells could be used in research and for growing tissues.
