The humanoid robot AILA is being trained to work on the International Space Station. AILA, designed by the company DFKI Bremen, is being trained to work on tasks too dangerous or too mundane for astronauts. The android uses a mockup of the Columbus module of the ISS and will be able to perform tasks through telecommunications as well as autonomously. AILA could be the second android in space. The first robot in space is Robonaut 2.
