Amazing Video: Van Gogh Sun
A unique technique creates images of the sun in Van Gogh-esque brush strokes. Developed by Dr. Nicholeen Viall, a solar scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, the technique uses specific colors set against a yellow background to signify areas on the sun that cooled or heated over a 12-hour period. The color of each pixel represents the 12-hour history of cooling and heating at that particular spot on the sun.
