Amazing Video: Sand Bubbler Crabs

These tiny crabs pass sand through their mouths for food making round "bubbles" around the beach.
Called sand bubbler crabs, they live in burrows on tropical beaches and are about an inch long. At low tide the crabs chomp up and then sieve bits of sand through their mouths for organic material to eat leaving behind balls of sand. The hundreds of bubbles left behind can form intricate designs through tropical beaches where the crabs are found. The bubbles disappear during high tide and the odd-looking crustaceans burrow back into the sand.
