This short film by the American Museum of Natural History and the Rubin Museum of Art shows every star, planet and quasar know to exist in the universe.
Digital imaging allows us to get a near four-dimensional view of our universe. The "known universe" is what we can observe of our space from Earth because light from those objects can reach us. The observable universe is constantly changing and in 2003, a NASA image showed the most distant part we can see from Earth. The satellite image showed clumps of matter that would eventually form into stars and galaxies near;y 14 billion light-years away. A light-year is the distance light travels in one year, or about 6 trillion miles (10 trillion kilometers).
